The Brett Whiteley Studio offers a traveling scholarship every year to artist applicants from Australia who are looking to travel. The studio is administered by the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australia. Scholarships are awarded to artists who can demonstrate how they would use and benefit from art education in Europe. The scholarship includes $25,000 and a three-month residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris. Residence is from July to September. Applicants must be between 20 and 30 years of age, inclusive, and be citizens of Australia.

The Chateaubriand Scholarship is sponsored by the Embassy of France and awards grants to 14 applicants for nine months beginning each September. The purpose of this fellowship is to allow American university doctorate students to pursue research for their theses in France. A list of qualifying arts degrees is included on the scholarship's website information page and includes studies such as applied arts, art, art conservation, art education, chamber music, drama and drawing. Candidates must demonstrate why they need to study in France. The award includes 1,300 euros a month, tuition, travel expenses, health insurance, stipends and research trips taken in France. The deadline each year is Dec. 31. Applicants must be American or enrolled at an American university. Applicants cannot be French.

Studio Art Centers International (SACI) Scholarships offer one full scholarship and a few partial scholarships for fall or spring terms to undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in arts studies such as jewelry making, modern art, art history, studio art, textiles and illustration. Scholarships are based on financial need and artistic and academic ability. They include tuition in Italy. Deadlines are March 15 and Oct. 1 each year.

The American Academy in Rome's Rome Prize Fellowship awards 30 annual fellowships in durations of six months, 11 months or two years for students pursuing doctorate, post-doctorate or professional studies in architectural history, architecture, art, composition, conservation, historical preservation, Italian studies, landscape architecture, literature, medieval studies, Renaissance studies and visual arts. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and the award includes living expenses in Rome, dependent expenses and a stipend. The deadline each year is Nov.1.
