State Universities

• In addition to the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington boasts five other state universities: Central Washington University, Eastern Washington University, The Evergreen State College, Washington State University and Western Washington University. Evergreen State in particular has gained national attention for its progressive curriculum, in which professors give students narrative evaluations instead of traditional letter grades.

Private Universities

• Washington State has twenty-four private colleges: Antioch University Seattle, Art Institute of Seattle, Bastyr University, City University of Seattle, Cornish College of the Arts, Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary, Gonzaga University, Heritage University, Mars Hill Graduate School, Moody Bible Institute - Spokane, Northwest Theological Seminary, Northwest University, Pacific Lutheran University, St. Martin's University, School of Visual Concepts, Seattle Bible College, Seattle Pacific University, Seattle University, Trinty Lutheran College, University of Puget Sound, Walla Walla University, Whitman College and Whitworth University.

• In addition to two- and four-year private colleges and state universities, Washington is home to thirty-one community and technical colleges.
