Colleges in Arkansas That Offer Doctorate Degrees

There are several universities in Arkansas that offer doctoral degree programs in topics ranging from mechanical engineering and molecular biology to ministry. These programs are dedicated to developing the interests of individual students and advancing research within their respective field.   1. Harding University

    • Harding University is a private Christian school offering 20 undergraduate and graduate degrees to its approximately 6,600 enrolled students. Harding is affiliated with the churches of Christ and offers a faith-based learning experience. The university offers doctoral programs in education, pharmacy and ministry. The Doctor of Ministry degree program is at the Harding Graduate School of Religion campus located in Memphis, Tennessee.

    Arkansas State University

    • Arkansas State University offers 36 degrees in 168 academic areas of study, including doctoral programs in education, educational leadership, environmental service, heritage studies and molecular biosciences, as well as a Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Doctoral candidates have the opportunity to have part of their tuition and fees waived by participating in ASU's graduate assistantship, fellowship and travel assistance programs.

    University of Central Arkansas

    • The University of Central Arkansas offers doctoral programs in communication sciences disorders, leadership studies, school psychology and physical therapy. Physical Therapy students have the option of pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or a traditional Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) course of study. The DPT degree is geared toward physical therapy practitioners while the Ph.D. program is more suited to those who are interested in researching or teaching in the field of physical therapy. The university offers a number of graduate assistantships as well as a private scholarship to doctoral candidates to help cover the costs of tuition.

    • The University of Arkansas offers more doctoral degrees than any other school in the state, with over 40 programs in areas of study ranging from adult education to space and planetary sciences. There are numerous financial aid opportunities available to doctoral candidates including travel aid, assistantships and scholarships. Additionally, the George Washington Carver research program provides additional opportunities for academically superior students who graduated from historically Black and Hispanic colleges and universities to participate in paid internship programs.
