The pre-matriculated scholarships are awarded to minority students, both girls and boys. You must be studying from the sixth to tenth standard grade level and secure a minimum of 50 percent on the previous year's final examination to qualify. The student who receives this scholarship has admission fees paid up to the maximum of 500 rupees per annum. Tuition fees are also covered for up to 3,500 rupees per annum.
The post-matriculated scholarships are awarded to minority students who pursue a higher education in polytechnic and trades at industrial training institutes, teacher's training, Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. degree courses. Qualifying students need to secure a minimum grade of at least 50 percent in their previous year of study. The amount awarded to students each year varies and you should check with the Tamil Nadu state government before applying.
The Merit cum Means scholarship program is a newer award program, first implemented in the 2007-2008 school year. It is designed to encourage students pursuing graduate and post-graduate courses at a government-approved institute. Four institutes are currently approved: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chennai, National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Trichy, Indian Institute of Technology & Design Management in Kancheepuram and the National Institute of Fashion Technology in Chennai. Minority students awarded this scholarship have their tuition paid in full.
