Technical College Grants & Scholarships

Financial aid is available to students who attend technical schools. Scholarships and grants are offered by two- and four-year institutions.
  1. Ouachita Technical College

    • Ouachita Technical College in Malvern, Arkansas, a two-year school, offers the President's Scholarship that covers all tuition and fees for selected students. Up to 10 scholarships are awarded each year for those who demonstrate both financial need and academic promise. Graduating high school seniors who score at least a 23 on the ACT can apply for the OTC Academic Scholarship. This program covers full tuition and fees for one year and may be renewed for a second year as long as the student makes acceptable academic progress. Another possible opportunity is the OTC Foundation Scholarship. The application requires an essay as well as demonstrated financial need. Student winners receive $500 for one semester.

    Texas State Technical College

    • Texas State Technical College in Waco, Texas, also a two-year school, offers the Competitive Texas Scholarship. This need-based award is available to both new and returning full-time students. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required and the award can only be used for technical education programs. The scholarship is for $500 per semester for two semesters. Another possibility is the Lozano Long Promise Opportunity Scholarship. However, students must be willing to attend TSTC's Harlingen campus. Selected part-time students are eligible for $1,000 award, which is distributed over three semesters. Full-time scholarship recipients usually receive $2,000 over a three-semester period. Applicants must be U.S. citizens with at least a 2.5 GPA and demonstrate financial need.

    Unmet Need Scholarship

    • The Unmet Need Scholarship, a program of the SallieMae Fund administered by Scholarship America, can be used at two- and four-year institutions, including technical colleges. The program is for students whose family income is less than $30,000 per year. Eligible students must attend school full-time and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. The scholarships usually range from $1,000 to $3,000.
