The group Working to Advance African Women gives a scholarship to women in Africa every year. Female African residents who plan to attend a university in Africa can receive $500 a year if they have a financial need and are in good academic standing. The application must be filed in December and must include a resume, letters of recommendation, an essay about future goals and the application form.

Any African national who is attending school and wants to attend college at University College London is eligible for this scholarship. The student will have all their tuition paid for while they attend the school and will receive an allowance as well. In addition, upon graduation two family members will be brought to the school. Applicants must show that there is a financial need in order to attend the school.

African students who want to pursue an education in music can apply for the Africa Scholars Program at Berklee in Massachusetts. Both full and partial scholarships are available. To be eligible, a person must have the equivalent of a high school degree and must go through an in-person interview and audition.
