Public Health Nursing Scholarships

Public health nurses educate people about health issues, monitor health trends and assess risk factors to increase the overall health of a community. Public health nurses are registered nurses who must earn bachelor’s degrees and pass the national licensing exam. Several organizations offer scholarships to nursing students who plan to enter the public health field.
  1. Missouri Public Health Foundation Health Professional Scholarship

    • The Missouri Public Health Foundation grants a $500 scholarship each year to a member of the Missouri Public Health Association who is pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a public health-related field such as nursing. Applicants must have completed at least 30 credit hours as an undergraduate student or at least 12 credit hours as a graduate student. Application requirements include an official grade transcript and at least one professional reference.

    Arlene Ward Bradshaw Community Health Nursing Award

    • Nursing students who are college seniors at Delta State University and plan to enter the public health field are eligible for the annual Arlene Ward Bradshaw Community Health Nursing Award. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and live in Mississippi. The selection criteria give preference to applicants who live in Attala, Bolivar, Carroll, Holmes, Humphreys, Leflore, Montgomery, Sunflower and Washington counties. Award amounts vary.

    Bertine Fair Endowed Scholarship in Community Health Nursing

    • Graduate students enrolled in the community health nursing program at Wayne State University can apply for the Bertine Fair Endowed Scholarship in Community Health Nursing. The recipient of this annual $1,000 award must demonstrate scholastic achievement and interest in the community health nursing field.
