Founded in 1965, Oakland Community College is located in the southeastern Michigan city of Bloomfield Hills. The state's largest community college, Oakland features two distinct programs that prepare students for pharmacy assistance careers. Despite its name, the college's Hospital Pharmacy Technology associate degree program trains students with the skills necessary in pharmacy technician posts in hospitals, extended care facilities and community pharmacy retail settings. Named for the Georgia city where it is located, Augusta Technical College is a two-year public technical institute. Established in 1961 as the Augusta Area Vocational Technical School, today the college features an expansive catalog of associate degree and diploma programs in industrial technology, business and allied health and nursing related fields. The college features two degree options for students interested in pursing careers in pharmacy assistance. Augusta's Pharmacy Technology associate degree program's curriculum includes general education core courses in algebra, public speaking and composition, in addition to specialized pharmacy courses like Principles of Dispensing Medications and Pharmaceutical Calculations. The pharmacy technology associate degree program can be completed in seven quarters. Alternatively, Augusta's five-quarter diploma program features fewer core courses and more coursework in vocational courses like Medical Terminology.

Located in the eastern Texas city of Pasadena, San Jacinto College is a two-year community college. Founded in 1961, the college now offers more than 140 academic degree programs in more than a dozen categories of study. San Jacinto's Pharmacy Technology certificate program is only one of the programs San Jacinto offers in health science related careers and is available at both the college's North and South campuses. The program's curriculum combines clinical experience with classroom study to prepare students for careers as pharmacist technicians. Courses include Drug Classification I and II, Institutional Pharmacy Practice and Clinical-Community Pharmacy. Upon completion of the program's requirements, graduates receive a Pharmacy Technician Certificate of Technology that qualifies them to take the certification examination administered by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
