HR Leadership Development Programs

Human resources (HR) development programs provide education and training to aspiring and newly hired or current managers. These programs develop managers' leadership skills so that they become more effective.
  1. Carnegie Mellon University

    • The human resources department at Carnegie Mellon University has a leadership development program that consists of seminars divided into three competencies. These competencies include achieving results, respecting yourself and others and leading and working as part of a team. Students who are interested in the track for achieving results will take courses that include decision making, mastering change, presentation skills and project management. Students in the respecting track will take courses including assessing your emotional intelligence, sexual harassment and an introduction to communication styles. Students in the leading track will take courses including fostering team creativity, team building skills and partnership and influence skills.

    The University of New Mexico

    • The Division of Human Resources at the University of New Mexico has two active leadership programs for students. One is the Management Academy and the other is the Passport to Leadership. The Management Academy is designed for those who are aspiring or current managers at the University of New Mexico. This program lasts for eight months. The Passport to Leadership program is designed for managers that have been newly hired at the University of Mexico and is a self-paced program.

    Columbia University

    • The Human Resources Learning and Development team at Columbia University offers a leadership program that consists of five sections within the curriculum. The first section in this leadership program is the performance management program, which focuses on goal setting, performance reviews and feedback. The second portion of the leadership program is the active leadership program, which focuses on communications, leadership styles and coaching. The third portion of this program is the leading change program, which focuses on understanding and defining, as well as planning the changes that are required from the staff members. The fourth portion of the program is the vision program, which focuses on the development of a vision statement, operating values and the strategic objectives. The final portion is the team development program, which focuses on decision making, productivity and communication as a team.
