The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in film studies. The two-year Bachelor of Arts in film and television is a liberal arts program that instructs students in television and film production, as well as theory and history of film. Participants earn upper division credits for all courses, but must first complete general studies coursework before entering the program. First year courses introduce students to theory and history of digital media, television and film. Second year students concentrate on a specific aspect within television and film, such as screenwriting, film production, animation or television production. The Tisch School of the Arts at New York University offers undergraduate and graduate level degrees in film and television programming. Coursework includes directing, editing, cinematography, scriptwriting, art direction, sound recording, production and distribution. Freshman studies include scriptwriting, audio production, video production, film criticism and film history.
