Online Horticulture Degree Programs

Numerous online programs offer bachelor's and master's degrees in horticulture. The courses are designed to provide students with user-friendly communication, individual instruction and the convenience to study independently. The field of horticulture offers a wide array of job opportunities in areas such as horticultural technician, forestry, landscaping, nursery management and horticulture communication. Students can receive a bachelor of science degree in environmental crop and soil sciences or horticultural and turfgrass sciences. Advanced degrees are also available at the master's and Ph.D levels. Over half of the students enrolled at the university receive scholarships; various kinds of internship and study abroad programs are also available to students who qualify. Students must fulfill a minimum of 120 undergraduate hours to satisfy the degree requirement. While students complete a significant portion of the program through online study, in some instances it may be necessary to take elective courses at a local community college.

    Warnborough College

    • Warnborough College was founded in the United Kingdom in 1973, and offers online degree programs at the bachelor's, master's and Ph.D. levels. The horticulture program at Warnborough College was established in partnership with ACS distance education, which is a U.K.-based distance-learning college. Prospective students must demonstrate successful completion of high school and must be 21 years or older to register into the program. The college also requires 4 years of apprenticeship or appropriate experience in horticulture. Non-native speakers of English must submit a test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL) or international English language testing system (IELTS) scores along with their application.

    Penn Foster Career School

    • The wildlife forestry and conservation program at Penn Foster career school prepares students to work in areas such as wildlife law enforcement and population management, forest ecology and protection, park and recreational facility operation, and field equipment and safety.
