Phlebotomy Services offers an online program that allows students to learn how to draw blood at their own pace. In the program, videos demonstrate how to give venipunctures and fingersticks to collect blood from patients. Online lessons also cover topics such as the definition of blood, medical terminology and legal issues in phlebotomy. To successfully complete the program, students must pass quizzes and a final exam. The training lasts three days and leads to a certificate. To apply for the online program---which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week---students must have a high school diploma or GED. The online program is especially useful for students who can arrange to gain hands-on practice of phlebotomy skills at a local facility. Phlebotomy Services was founded in 1997 and is an approved Professional Acknowledgment for Continuing Education provider of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science.
