Many colleges and technical schools offer brick and mortar courses for those seeking Integrated Pest Management (IPM) certification but, if you would like to keep your current job while working on your certification, these online schools will give you the preparation you need.

    • The Institute of Pest Management is an online program that can help you to get IPM certified. This school teaches you how to control pest problems with the use of pesticides while avoiding endangering people, pets, and the environment. Topics covered include how to protect yourself and clients and avoid liability from lawsuits. The Institute of Pest Management teaches you business aspects of pest management, including how to decrease insurance rates and chemical costs. It comes with a CD-ROM that can be used to help refresh your memory.

    Washington State University

    • Washington State University offers an online IPM re-certification program and pre-licensing training courses. The pre-licensing courses help you study the material you need to pass your state licensing exam. These classes will not give you a license, they will only help you pass the exam. The re-certification program offers classes to help refresh your memory on certain topics that you must know for certification. You may only take one class per year for credit towards your certification. However, you can retake the same course next year if you need.

    • University of Minnesota is an online certification program for IPM training. The program involves taking different modules to receive your certification. Each module has a start and end date that you must follow and each module is exactly six weeks long. During the six weeks, you work at your own pace to complete the assignments given. There are a variety of modules to choose from at any given time and more are always being added. At the end of the modules, you will receive continuing education units and a certificate of completion. You can take as many modules as you like to aid you in receiving or maintaining your certification.
