Based in Xenia, the Ohio Academy of Holistic Health was founded in 1987. OAHH provides quality education in alternative health and houses research centers and clinical sites to treat and deliver cutting-edge therapeutic treatments in alternative medicine. The academy is accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). Students enrolled in OAHH’s alternative medicine programs are eligible to transfer their course credits to satisfy continuing education requirements for nursing, osteopathy and hypnotherapy. Prospective students can enroll in vocational, diploma and continuing education courses in a variety of fields including aromatherapy, hypnotherapy, holistic life coach and massage therapy. In addition, the nursing education program at OAHH provides a practical nursing diploma course for students who wish to specialize in alternative nursing.

Based in Columbus, the American Institute of Alternative Medicine is Ohio’s largest health center in alternative medicine. The institute is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). Prospective students can enroll in three areas of healing arts diploma programs: acupuncture, massage therapy and Chinese massage therapy. In addition to providing exceptional training in alternative health, the institute also coordinates trips to China to expose students to Chinese culture and the practical application of traditional medicine in China.

In partnership with Lincoln College of Technology, Southwestern College provides a certificate program in massage therapy in Cincinnati. Other programs offered at Southwestern College include cosmetology, hair design and aesthetics. The massage and bodywork course will provide students with a solid foundation in therapeutic approaches and theoretical perspectives on massage therapy. Course highlights include anatomy and physiology, reflexology and pathology. In addition to receiving classroom instruction, students will receive practical training in a clinical setting under the supervision of licensed instructors. The training will prepare graduates to work as massage therapists in various industries locations, including sports clubs, spas and and physical therapy centers.
