Popular Engineering Colleges

The discipline of engineering includes a host of subject areas that focus on the knowledge of designing and building structures and systems that enhance everyday life. Students learn engineering through the application of scientific principles, among other disciplines. The popularity of engineering programs is primarily determined by ranking and a variety of engineering colleges are located throughout the United States.
  1. Eastern Region

    • As the number one engineering college in the United States, Massachusetts Institution of Technology (MIT) is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Also in the Eastern region of the country, Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta and Carnegie Mellon University both offer popular engineering programs. Lastly, but certainly not least, in Ithaca, New York, Cornell University is home to one of the top ranked engineering schools in the country.

    Central United States

    • The central region is home to several popularly recognized engineering schools scattered throughout several states. At the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, 12 different engineering programs are available at its College of Engineering. At the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, academic minors are also offered within different engineering degrees. Engineering is also offered at the University of Texas in Austin.

    West Coast

    • Popular engineering programs are offered at universities along the West Coast. In California, the University of California in Berkeley, Stanford University and the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena all offer engineering degrees. Oregon offers engineering at the Oregon State University College of Education. Lastly, the University of Washington offers students a chance to work with an award-winning faculty at its College of Engineering.
