The Isenberg School of Hospitality Management at the University of Massachusetts offers online as well as on-campus studies. Its bachelor's degree program offers classes in marketing, management, casino management, lodging, food and beverage management, sales, convention services and special events. During the program, students can decide to go into the food and beverage or the hospitality and resort industries.
Atlanta Technical College (ATC) in Georgia offers over 80 different programs, including an associate degree in Hotel and Tourism Management. Program applicants must be at least 16 years of age and have completed high school or a GED. The degree program takes nine quarters to complete and includes basic classes in accounting and computer science, as well as specific areas in the hospitality industry, such as hotel operations, food and beverage management and sales and marketing.
The Tisch Center at New York University offers a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Tourism Management. Courses in hotel finance, sales, special events and convention planning are designed to promote independent and creative thinking. During the first semester, students interact with hotel and tourism business leaders. The college offers classes in writing, economics and social science as part of the hospitality degree. During the junior year, students choose a specialty in either event management, marketing and revenue managing or organizations and operations. The college requires a 700-hour internship program outside of the classroom before graduation.
Michigan State University offers a degree in Hospitality Business and limits the program to 800 students a year. Instructors in both the undergraduate and graduate programs have been or are on the staff of hotels and restaurants. The school attracts recruiters from many leading hospitality establishments throughout the country. Coursework in the undergraduate program includes service management principles, advanced hospitality business ownership and quantity food production systems.
Florida International University's School for Hospitality Management is located on Biscayne Bay in the Miami area. The school offers two degree programs: a Bachelor or Master of Science in Hospitality Management. Undergraduate courses include hotel/lodging management, food and beverage management and convention sales. Graduate studies require courses in hospitality tourism services and organizational behavior in the hospitality industry. Non-degree programs are also available, providing certification in a variety of hotel services, such as restaurant, travel and tourism. which require 30 to 36 hours of coursework.
