Jackson State University, located in Jackson, Ala., offers both an RN-to-BSN and RN-to-BSN-to-Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) degrees. The RN-to-BSN program takes one year to finish and requires no clinical work.
Before you are admitted, you must complete all the general education requirements with a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average (GPA). After your general education requirements have been met, you start nursing classes online. If you feel ambitious, you have the option of taking graduate classes.

Offering both on-site and online education, it is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association of Colleges, and the nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
An unrestricted, unencumbered RN license from any state and one year's work experience is needed for admission into the RN-to-BSN program. Classes start once you enroll, so there is no waiting for the semester to start.

Illinois State University, located in Normal, offers both a full- and part-time RN-to-BSN program. You must have at least a 2.7 GPA, an RN license and completed several general education requirements for admission. Once admitted, you may take proficiency exams and "test out' of several classes.

Chamberlain College of Nursing, formerly Deaconess College of Nursing, was founded in 1889. It has several learning sites across the country and offers online degrees. Chamberlain's nursing program takes only three semesters to finish and accepts credits from other universities.
