Norwich University provides a master of arts in military history. This program is designed to accommodate working professionals and individuals who already have a bachelor's degree and can be completed in 18-24 months after enrollment. In conjunction with writing, research and analysis, the curriculum is designed to give students a base of knowledge pertaining to military history. The curriculum is formulated by the goals for history master of arts degrees outlined by the American Historical Association. Norwich University is accredited through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges Inc. through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.

American Military University provides an associate of arts, bachelor of arts and master of arts in military history. The associate of arts degree requires 61-64 semester hours (20 courses and one to four labs); the bachelor of arts degree requires between 120 and 124 semester hours (39-40 courses and one to four labs), and the master of arts requires 36 to 48 semester hours (12-15 courses) and either a comprehensive exam, a thesis, or an integrative practicum. In addition to the master's degree in military history, AMU also offers a master of arts in military studies. Each degree, although different in its approach and breadth, is designed to give students a basic understanding of ancient and modern conflicts. AMU is a member of the regionally accredited American Public University System. APUS is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association and nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission, Distance Education and Training Council.

The Austin Peay State University provides a master of arts in military history with an optional security studies certificate. Admission to the program requires a bachelor's degree with at least a 2.75 GPA and minimum GRE scores of 400 verbal, 350 quantitative and 4.0 analytical writing. The curriculum requires of 36 credits consisting of required courses and electives. APSU is a Tennessee Board of Regents institution and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
