• Old Dominion University offers a Master of Public Health degree with a specialization in environmental health. Johns Hopkins University

• In 2007, US News and World Report ranked Johns Hopkins University as the top institution offering a graduate degree in public health. The Master of Public Health can be achieved online on a part-time basis, but at least 20 percent of the coursework must be completed in a face-to-face classroom setting. Face-to-face requirements can be met through a number of formats, including traditional 8-week classes at the Baltimore, MD campus or condensed classes offered in the summer term. Course content includes subjects such as current issues in public health, introduction to health policy and public health biology. Johns Hopkins School of Public Health is accredited by Council on Education for Public Health.

The foundation course focuses on the principles of communication in public health, and core classes focus on subjects like biostatistics and research in public health.
