Grady Health Systems

• Grady Health Systems, serving the Atlanta area, operates Grady Memorial Hospital. This prestigious health care provider offers entry-level programs in radiological technology, radiation therapy and diagnostic medical sonography. Grady's school of radiological technology offers an accredited, entry-level program. With its limited size (only 35 students are accepted annually), and intensive, two-year curriculum, the radiology program graduates nearly 90 percent of its students. Requirements for entry into the program include a minimum 2.5 high school grade point average, a minimum combined Standard Aptitude Test (SAT) score of 850 or ACT of 18, a successful interview, a physical examination, medical insurance, and prerequisites in math and science.

• A four-year, private institution, Emory University offers a baccalaureate degree in medical imaging - one of the few four-year radiology programs offered in the United States. Emory School of Medicine is the 20th ranked research medical school by U.S. News & World Report for 2010. The Department of Radiology operates clinical divisions in community radiology, interventional radiology, breast imaging, nuclear medicine, neuroradiology and more. Students have at their disposal state-of-the-art labs, working professors, fellowship programs and a nearly 3,000 bed hospital. Admission requirements for the Department of Radiology are satisfactory mental and physical health, a 2.0 high school grade point average, a minimum combined SAT score of 900, and/or 19 ACT score, 30 hours of college coursework, recommendations from professors, observation time within the department and a personal interview.

Gwinnett Technical College

• Located 15 miles northeast of Atlanta, Gwinnett Technical College provides continuing education for thousands of North Georgia residents. Gwinnett offers an associate of applied science degree program in radiological technology, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiological Technology. The program is two-years with part coursework and part clinical training. Admission to the radiology program requires prerequisites in math, science and general education classes, a written application and oral interview.
