The Morehouse School of Medicine is more than just a school where students can sit in the classroom. According to the school's website, Morehouse strives to be a leader in community focus and research and focuses its efforts to prepare students to go on to serve individuals, communities and the larger medical profession as a whole.
This school was originally founded in 1975 as a two-year research and training facility. Today Morehouse is accredited to award a variety of degrees, including the Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Sciences (Ph.D), Master of Public Health (M.P.H) and Master of Science in clinical research, biomedical research and biomedical technology. The school also features seven residency programs for training students new to their particular field; these programs include family medicine, preventative medicine, internal medicine, psychiatry, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), and pediatrics.
Morehouse School of Medicine is also affiliated with a number of hospitals in the Atlanta area, including the Atlanta Medical Center, the Atlanta Veterans Administration Medical Center, the Georgia Regional Hospital at Atlanta and the Georgia Division of Public Health.

Though the Emory University School of Medicine is just one branch of the extensive Emory University, it certainly manages to stand out on its own. On top of more than 400 regular medical students and more than 60 MD/Ph.D students, Emory University School of Medicine also helps to train more than 1,000 residents and fellows in the field of medicine. According to the school's website, Emory's MD/Ph.D program is one of only 34 programs nationwide sponsored by the National Institutes of Health.
Emory also participates in a number of allied health options, training students in associated programs like physical therapy and physician assistantship. It is also associated with the Emory Healthcare group, which employs nearly 10,000 employees in medical areas including the Emory Children's Center, Emory Physical Therapy, Emory Genetics Laboratory and Emory University Hospital.

If you are looking for a specialization that is anything but sleep-inducing, the Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine and Technology might be the right place for you. This school trains new physicians in the art of sleep medicine and technology and is also qualified to re-certify sleep technologists. The school's website estimates that since 1992 the Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine and Technology has trained more than 4,000 sleep technologists, and that the field of sleep study and technology is rapidly growing.
Course content for classes at the Atlanta School of Sleep Technology include studying regular and irregular sleep patterns, problems such as restricted breathing and limb movement during sleep and sleeping disorders such as narcolepsy, insomnia and seizures.
