Top Medical Schools for Psychiatry

Psychiatrists are doctors trained to treat mental disorders, including depression, schizophrenia, anxiety and social disorders. These specialized doctors evaluate patients and can prescribe psychiatric drugs. Although there is no official ranking system for the top medical school psychiatry programs, several schools that were rated the top medical schools in 2010 by "U.S. News & World Report" are also considered to have some of the country's strongest psychiatry programs.

Students work and intern in Boston schools, hospitals and psychiatric hospitals to gain hands-on experience. This private university, located in downtown Philadelphia, was founded in 1878 by Benjamin Franklin and has approximately 622 students enrolled each year.
