The Old Dominion University College of Health Sciences offers a four-year program in medical technology. The Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science program is the oldest health science program at the university and is fully accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences. They offer disciplines in chemistry, hematology, immunohematology, immunology/serology, microbiology, and urinalysis.

U.S. News & World Reports rated the school among the best medical schools in 2010. The program focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and therapy of disease and is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences. As part of the program, in 2010 the school started offering classes in The Language of Medicine, Forensic Science as well as a minor in Medical Diagnostics.

The University of Maryland Department of Medical and Research Technology is the largest medical technology program in Maryland. They offer undergraduate programs in Medical Technology Research and Biotechnology Research and graduate programs in Biomedical Research and Laboratory Management. They also offer a one-year accelerated categorical certificate program for students that already have a baccalaureate degree in chemistry, biology, or other area of basic science.
