How to Locate a University of Medical Sciences

Medical schools are usually one program of many offered by a university that has general arts, sciences and other graduate programs. Although they aren't numerous, there are some universities such as the University of California at San Francisco and the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, centered around the medical and health sciences. Prospective students who want to study in an exclusively health sciences environment can easily find their target schools using a few basic resources.

Instructions

Review the American Association of Medical Colleges list of accredited medical schools. This gives information on all accredited medical schools in the United States. If you need help quickly narrowing down the health science-only campuses, call the AAMC for assistance. Representatives are familiar with their member schools.

Contact the American Association of Colleges of Nursing for its list of nursing schools located in exclusively health science universities. The AACN accredits nursing schools throughout the country and has an exhaustive list. The American Nurses Association makes this list available on its website.

Visit the career center of a college or university. Advising departments usually have extensive information about graduate schools in all areas. Career guidance counselors help prospective health science students locate appropriate graduate programs.
