TOEFL & Sat Requirements

International students may wish to study at an American university because they offer excellent academics and a wide variety of extracurricular activities. However, admission to these colleges is competitive. Most schools require prospective students take the Scholastic Aptitude Test and international candidates take the Test of English as a Foreign Language. Score requirements for these tests vary by school; a broad range of school's admissions requirements can provide an overview of the expected range.
  1. Yale University

    • One of the United States' oldest and most prestigious universities, Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, boasts excellent resources and many illustrious alumni (including several presidents). Like many schools, Yale does not have a required Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) range; however, the average student admitted in 2008, scored between 700 and 800 on the SAT Critical Reading, between 700 and 780 on the SAT Math and between 700 and 790 on the SAT Writing. Yale requires non-native speakers of English to score at least 100 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) internet-based test or 600 on the paper-based Test.
