The University of South Florida recalculates your grade point average or GPA to account for only core academic classes (no electives), advanced placement, international baccalaureate, advanced international certificate of education courses, honors and dual enrollment courses with grade C or higher. The middle 50 percentile of students accepted to USF have high school grade point averages of 3.51 to 4.12.
The school requires that either SAT or ACT test scores are submitted with your application. The highest ACT score possible is 36 and the highest possible SAT score is 1600. Submission of both test scores will be considered if the student completes both test, but two scores are not necessary. The middle 50 percent of students accepted to the University of South Florida have ACT scores between 24 and 28 or ACT English/Writing scores of 23-27. Students in this same percentile have SAT scores of 1090 to 1290 on the critical reading and math tests, 530 to 620 on the writing test. If you have completed the Test of English as a Foreign Language or TOEFL you must submit those scores as well.
Letters of recommendation are not required but can be submitted and encouraged for students who have had their application deferred. The maximum number of letters that can be submitted is two and they suggest that these letters come from teachers. You also have the option of submitting a personal statement, resume of activities or an essay.
If you have previously attended college, you must submit copies of all transcripts along with your application. These official transcripts must be sealed in order to be considered valid. If you are seeking an associates degree, you must apply at least one year prior to completing your degree.
