Community Colleges in the Metropolitan Area of Toronto

Toronto, Ontario is home to several of Canada's premier schools of higher learning. The city boasts three universities, including University of Toronto, York University and Ryerson University, each maintaining a reputation as leaders in education and research. Toronto is also home to a number of excellent colleges, which allow students to develop practical skills in several marketable fields.
  1. Seneca College

    • Seneca College is the largest college in the Greater Toronto Area, with over 100,000 students. The college boasts more than 260 areas of study, including many programs that are unique to the school. The school's Aviation and Flight Technology Program is housed in a working airplane hangar that is also home to the school's fleet of aircraft. The program is sponsored and supported by some of the world's leading aeronautical companies, who provide gear and guidance for the specialized programs. The popular Animation Arts program develops the talents of a new generation of film and video game animators, with many graduates stepping into careers with Disney and Pixar studios. Senecca's Golf Course Technician, Recreation and Leisure Services and Environmental Landscape Management programs are housed on a lush 700-acre estate that was once the home of a former Canadian prime minister.

    George Brown College

    • George Brown, known as "The City College" operates out of two downtown campuses. Casa Loma campus is located uptown, at the base of the historic castle by the same name, while St. James Campus is sprawled across several blocks in the heart of downtown. 27,000 students are enrolled at the college, which offers classroom-based and online programs. In all, George Brown offers over 100 programs, including a well-respected culinary arts school, fashion design program, theater production and arts program and a number of technology programs.

    Centennial College

    • Centennial College is spread across four Toronto campuses, each specializing in a unique set of programs. In the city's west end, Centennial's Progress Campus present's the school's popular School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culture programs, training the next generation of hotel, restaurant and travel professionals. The School of Engineering Technology and Applied Science delves into manufacturing automation, engineering technologies and biological testing and procedures grooming technicians and field experts. The School of Communications, Media and Design focuses on new media and technology for designers, motion graphic programmers and web developers.
