The Dallas County Community College District offers training in several career areas such as accounting, nursing, auto body technology, commercial music, computer-aided design and drafting, computer information technology and construction management. Students also can study hospitality management, nanotechnology, substance-abuse counseling, environmental systems technology, aviation technology and radiologic sciences. The community college district offers associate degrees and certificates; study-abroad and online learning opportunities are also available. Students can study at the community college's seven sites in Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake and Richland. Established in 1965, the Dallas County Community College District is the largest undergraduate institution in Texas. Students at Tarrant County College can pursue associate degrees or certificates in a variety of career fields. Areas of study include dance, fashion merchandising, economics, real estate, small business administration, journalism/communications, sign language interpreting, child development and health information technology. Other fields include dental hygiene, respiratory care, psychology, horticulture, electronics technology, aviation, and heating, air conditioning and refrigeration. Students in medical programs also complete clinical rotations. Students can take a core curriculum if they plan to transfer to a four-year institution. Distance learning is an option at the college as well.
