Junior colleges, or two-year colleges are viable options for students who wish to get career oriented training, or complete their core coursework for a four-year institution at their own pace. While there are not any junior colleges in Duluth, there are several options in the neighboring Atlanta area. The colleges range from technical colleges to a school that provides curriculum for students who intend on transferring their credits to a four-year college or university. Gwinnett College is located in Lilburn, GA, less than 15 miles away from Duluth.

    • Gwinnett Technical College offers certificate, diploma and degree programs for their students. Gwinnett Tech focuses on a technical, career oriented education in a number of programs including arts and sciences, health science, public safety and service, veterinary technology, horticulture, and education. Gwinnett Technical College is part of the Technical College System of Georgia, a network of technical colleges in the state. The school is located in Lawrenceville, GA, which is about 11 miles from Duluth.

    Georgia Perimeter College

    • Georgia Perimeter College is a two-year college in the Atlanta area, and the third largest institution of the University System of Georgia. Students who attend Georgia Perimeter enter the college under one of two focus areas: transfer or career programs. In the transfer program, students complete their core coursework and transfer their credits to one of 20 available four-year colleges and universities in the state. There are some programs offered at Georgia Perimeter, such as Health Sciences, that have to be completed at a four-year school. Georgia Perimeter has several Atlanta-area campus locations for potential students to choose from, but every campus does not support all of the academic programs.
