Heart of Georgia Technical College (HGTC), which opened in 1984, is in Dublin. It offers programs in business and industry certifications, continuing education, computer classes, driver's education, non-credit online classes and real estate courses. The college also offers pest-control examinations; ServSafe, a food safety training program; and Georgia Work Ready, a program designed to help businesses match prospective employees' skills to specific jobs.
Middle Georgia College is a state charter school of the University of Georgia. The college, originally named the College of the New Ebenezer Association, opened in 1887. It offers a wide range of programs developed for transfer to four-year institutions and to prepare students directly for careers in business and industry. The college has three campuses: the main campus in Cochran; the Dublin Center, which opened in 1984; and the Georgia-Aviation campus in Eastman. The college offers a bachelor of science in aviation management; college transfer programs leading to an associate degree; career programs at the certificate and associate degree levels; aviation technical certificates; associate of applied science degree programs; and general education courses.
Miller-Motte Technical College (MMTC) opened in 1916. In addition to campuses in other states, it now has Georgia campuses in Augusta, Columbus and Macon. Miller-Motte offers state-of-the-art technology. Classes are offered on campus and online. MMTC has a wide range of program offerings, although each campus does not necessarily have the same programs. Among the programs available are business management, clinical office assistant, dental assisting, health information technology, human resource management, massage therapy, medical assisting, medical laboratory technology, and security and investigation.
Virginia College opened its first campus in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1992 and now has campuses in the South from Virginia to Florida. The Augusta, Georgia, campus opened in June 2009. The college offers online and small classes on campus taught by faculty who work in their field. Virginia College also offers financial planning and career placement assistance. Career training is offered in the following programs: cosmetology, health care reimbursement, medical assistant, medical assistant certificate, medical billing and coding, medical office management, office administration, pharmacy technician, surgical technology and therapeutic massage.
