Wake Technical Community College at Western Wake Campus is a part of the public, two-year community college that has its main campus in the capital city of Raleigh. The school offers a general Associate of Arts degree, which is designed to fulfill the general education requirements of most four-year colleges. Because the degree is intended for students continuing at the bachelor's level at another college, the required courses are in a diverse range of topics, including composition, the humanities, fine arts, social and behavioral sciences, natural sciences and mathematics. Federal and state financial aid is available for qualified students. The school also helps students select a four-year college to attend after graduation.

Founded in 2003, Shepherds Theological Seminary is affiliated with the Colonial Baptist Church, but it offers non-denominational, evangelical post-secondary religious education. Accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges, the school has about 100 students and grants an associate degree in church ministry, a bachelor's degree in theology and master's degrees in church ministry and divinity. For students, the school offers men's and women's ministry programs as well as 10 intramural athletics programs. The school does not participate in government financial aid programs, but it has a limited number of scholarships available for students based on financial need or academic excellence.

Miller-Motte Technical College is a private, post-secondary institution with locations throughout the South. The Cary branch offers associate degrees and certificates in surgical technology, massage therapy, medical assisting, medical office administration, medical billing and coding, esthetics (skin care) and sterile processing. Several programs include a required internship, providing students with hands-on training in their fields. The school also offers online courses as well as tutoring for all programs. The Career Services department provides career counseling assistance to help students choose a program and the department assists graduates with resume-writing, interview preparation and job placement. The college participates in federal financial aid and work study programs.
