The College of Coastal Georgia is a unit of the University System of Georgia and is in Brunswick near the Florida state line. Currently, the institution serves approximately 3,000 students and is expected to grow eventually to 10,000 students.
The college is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and National League for Nursing -- Accrediting Commission. The college also has approval from the Georgia Board of Nursing.
Currently, the college offers an associate of science degree in nursing. The associate's degree is designed to prepare the student for examination leading to licensing as a registered nurse.
The institution is beginning a bachelor of science degree in nursing in 2010. The program will prepare nurse generalists for licensure in a variety of specialties and health-care settings. Graduates will be prepared to take the national nursing examination, which can lead to nursing practice in any state.

Emory University is a private institution located approximately 15 minutes north of Atlanta. Emory University has a total enrollment of almost 13,000 students.
The university is internationally recognized for its professional schools, liberal arts college and health-care system. Emory maintains an emphasis on teaching while generating more research funding than any other university in Georgia.
Emory's Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and offers several program options. Students may complete an associate's degree at any accredited nursing program, including Emory College, and then apply to enter the bachelor's program in their junior year.
Students may apply to the BSN-MSN segue option and can be admitted to bachelor's and masters programs simultaneously. A number of other paths are possible, including a dual program for a master's of science in nursing and master's of public health. There are also programs for a master's of science in nursing or Ph.D in nursing, among others.

North Georgia College and State University is a public university with an enrollment of more than 13,000 students. The university is located in the North Georgia mountains about one hour north of Atlanta. With approximately 13 percent of its enrollment consisting of ROTC Corps of Cadets, the college has been designated the Military College of Georgia by the state legislature.
North Georgia offers four programs in nursing. The Associate of Science Nursing (ASN) classes are offered at Lanier Technical Institute in Forsyth County and the University Center of Gainesville State College as well as the main campus. The associate's program is fully accredited by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission and the Georgia Board of Nursing. Students completing the course may sit for the nursing boards as the path to be a registered nurse.
The Bachelor of Science Nursing (RN-BSN) requires 57 semester hours beyond the ASN. The program is designed so that students can complete the program in three to four semesters, depending on student preference, availability of faculty and previous course credits. The university makes all nursing courses available online. The program is accredited by the same agencies as the ASN program.
The university also offers two master of science programs in nursing. These are the Master of Science/Family Nurse Practitioner program and the Master of Science in Nursing Education.
