Founded in 1958, Wake Technical Community College--called Wake Tech by locals--started out as Wake County Industrial Education Center.
The school remains a public institution, the second largest two-year college in North Carolina. Every year, more than 65,000 students attend, aiming for certificates, diplomas or associate degrees in arts (A.A.), science (A.S.), applied science (A.A.S) or general education (A.G.E.). Certificates and diploma programs include basic law enforcement or a drafting diploma or certificate. Wake Tech has campuses throughout the county, and offers classes in area high schools and online.
