2 Year Colleges in Florida

Florida's public, two-year community colleges all belong to the Florida College System, an association of 28 four-year and two-year public colleges. Florida has community colleges located all over the state. Students can work toward associate degrees or professional certificates to advance their careers or to prepare to transfer to a four-year university.
  1. Brevard Community College

    • Brevard Community College was founded in 1960. As of 2009, it had about 14,600 undergraduates. Students can work toward Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degrees in three different fields, Associate in Science (AS) degrees in 22 different fields, Applied Technology Diplomas (ATD) in three different fields, College Credit Certificates (CCC) in 37 different fields, or Postsecondary Adult Vocational Certificates (PSAV) in 21 different fields.

    Central Florida Community College

    • The Central Florida Community College was founded in 1957. As of 2009, it had about 17,700 students. The college offers 42 associate degree and certificate programs. Central Florida Community College has campuses in Lecanto and Ocala, and additional centers in Ocala and Chiefland.

    Florida Keys Community College

    • The Florida Keys Community College was founded in 1965. The college offers 20 associate degree and certificate programs. Students can take advantage of the college's location in the Keys with its specialized programs in marine engineering, marine environmental technology, marine propulsion, diving business and technology. The college's School of Diving offers extensive facilities for the study of commercial diving, research diving, hyperbaric medicine, public safety diving and underwater photography.

    Tallahassee Community College

    • Tallahassee Community College was founded in 1966. The college offers Associate in Arts (AA) degrees in four areas, Associate in Science (AS) and Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degrees in six areas and certificate programs in seven areas. The college also offers workforce education, adult education and high school dual enrollment programs. Many Tallahassee Community College graduates continue their studies at the nearby Florida State University.
