Community college students have to factor the local community when assessing a school to attend. Fort Myers is the commercial center of Lee County, with a population of approximately 70,000 people. The Lee Campus of Edison State College sits about 2 miles inland from the Cape Coral Bridge. Walking tours of the campus are available from Tuesday through Thursday, but they are space available, so it is recommended you call ahead to 1-800-749-2322. The entire campus has been tobacco-free since 2010. The campus has its own library, cafe and coffee shop, and child care is available. On-campus residential facilities are planned but not yet built.
Edison State offers bachelor degree programs in cardiopulmonary science, management and administration and education.
Associate programs are available in accounting, business, computers, medical and health sciences, and public sector skills like firefighting and criminal justice. Drafting and design are also offered, as well as paralegal courses.
Certificate programs are available in accounting applications, computer programming, crime scene technology, emergency medical technician, eye care technician, firefighting, networking, ophthalmic laboratory technician, paramedic, small business management and visual assessment.
In addition to tuition, there are varying application fees, sorted by program and residency status. Tuition for in-state associate degree and certifications student, as of 2011, is $96.90 a credit hour, while it is $359.90 for non-residents. Tuition for baccalaureates is $107.22 a credit hour for in-state students and $594.58 a credit hour for non-residents.
