Students can earn an associate's degree in nursing at the Madison Area Technical College which will prepare them for the RN examination. Classes include nursing fundamentals, nursing pharmacology, interpersonal relations nursing, microbiology and social psychology. The program is approved by the Wisconsin Department of Regulation as well as accredited by the National League for Nursing. Once the program of study has been completed, students take the national examination for licensure as a registered nurse.

Edgewood College School of Nursing has traditional and transfer students in the program. Areas of concentration in the program include assessment and planning for aggregates, teaching and learning theory in the context of nursing, health care financing and management and nursing theories and frameworks. Students are encouraged to utilize the on-campus career counseling and placement center shortly before graduation, and participate in internships at local medical institutions. Students can apply for admission, financial aid and counseling through the school's website. The program qualifies students to take the examination for licensure as a registered nurse.

Students attending the University Of Wisconsin School Of Nursing are enrolled in the second-largest research school in the country. Internships, career counseling and career placement all benefit from the school's relationship with the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center, the American Family Children's Hospital and other nearby health agencies.
