Harvard University's business school is the largest M.B.A. program in the United States, despite its admissions selectivity. Harvard's program enrolled 1,801 students in 2009. At the same time, Harvard's business school is the No. 1 business program in the nation, according to "U.S. News & World Report" rankings in 2009. Harvard offers both the traditional M.B.A. and the Executive M.B.A. degree for high-level executives. Harvard students can also pursue a number of different joint-degree plans. Students can study medicine (M.D.), law (J.D.), dentistry (D.M.D.), public policy (M.P.P.) and public administration (M.P.A.). Concurrent courses are also available for Harvard students through Tufts University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Specialization within the M.B.A. program include accounting and management, marketing, business economics, health policy, business economics and strategy.

The University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business is the second largest M.B.A. program in the nation. The Wharton Business School ranked in a tie for third by the standards of the "U.S. News & World Report" 2009 rankings. Wharton reported an enrollment of 1,611 for 2009-2010. Wharton is famous for its variety of degree concentrations within the M.B.A. program. Offering more than 18 different fields of study, the Wharton School is one of the most diverse programs in the world. Some of these areas of study include strategic management, human resource and organizational management, statistics, accounting, multinational management, operations and information management, legal studies and business ethics, environmental and risk management and entrepreneurial management. Wharton also offers joint degrees in law, environmental studies and health care management.

Northwestern University also has one of the largest and most prestigious M.B.A. programs in the United States (Kellogg School of Management). The school ranked third on the "U.S. News & World Report" list for 2009, tied with the Wharton School of Business. Areas of concentration include fields of study such as real estate, media management, health enterprise management, technology industry management, international business and markets and entrepreneurship and innovation. Northwestern offers one of the most flexible M.B.A. programs with full-time, part-time and executive options. The school also offers a joint M.B.A./J.D. degree in conjunction with the school's nationally ranked law school. At 1,254 students for the 2009-2010 school year, the Northwestern M.B.A. program is the nation's third largest.
