Stanford University was ranked second among education programs nationwide by U.S. News & World Report in 2009. Stanford's education program differs from other education programs in that, at the baccalaureate level, Stanford students pursue an honors track leading to a bachelor's degree in a field outside of education. As part of the curriculum, however, students supplement their degree plan with course work from the education department and fulfill their state licensing requirements as well. Students can take courses in areas such as policy analysis, comparative international education, learning design and technology, and teacher education and curriculum.
