Located in Tallahassee, the state's capital, Florida State University is one of the nation's elite research universities. It offers several colleges including the colleges of arts and sciences, college of business, college of engineering, college of education, college of music, college of nursing, college of law and college of medicine. Florida State University's College of Education gives students over 35 different degree programs to choose from which will properly prepare them for the field of teaching. Programs offered include early childhood education, English education, history and philosophy education, general administration, counseling psychology, school psychology and multicultural and multilingual education. Distance learning programs and certificates are also available to students.
Edison State College is an 80-acre college campus that offers several location options in Florida including Fort Myers, Naples, Punta Gorda and La Belle. Bachelor's and Associate's degree programs are available. Teaching programs include Bachelor's in secondary biology education, middle grades science education, middle grades mathematic education, elementary education, middle grades language arts education and secondary mathematics education. Located in Daytona Beach, Daytona State College has several different programs including a college of education, a college of online studies, a health and human services college, a college of music, art and sciences and a college of business administration. Daytona State College offers features a Educator preparatory Institute which is for students who have completed their bachelor's or associate's degree already and need preparation to become teachers. The college itself offers teaching degree programs in elementary education, exceptional education, secondary education in mathematics, secondary biology education and secondary earth/space science education.
Pensacola State College offers a variety of teaching degree programs such as early childhood education, early childhood teacher (Pre-K), early childhood teacher (pre-primary), infant/toddler specification and Florida child care professional credential program. Financial aid is available for qualified students in the form of work study, scholarships, grants, loans and federal and state issued aid. Pensacola has three separate locations including Pensacola, Milton and Warrington.
