Colleges in Massachusetts for Teaching

Diverse Massachusetts offers a multitude of options for students interested in a teaching career. From the mountains of "Western Mass." to the urban settings of Boston and the surrounding areas, or from a bachelor's degree and a teaching license to a doctoral degree in education theory, there is something for every student at every stage of life.
  1. Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts

    • A public liberal arts college, this school of approximately 2,000 students is located in the scenic Berkshire mountains of western Massachusetts. Founded in 1894, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) originally was named the North Adams Normal School and specialized in training teachers. In 1932, the name was changed to the State Teachers College of North Adams. True to this history, MCLA's Bachelor of Science degree program in education offers licenses in early childhood, elementary, middle and secondary school education. The only graduate degree MCLA offers is a master's degree in education.
