Butler County Community College first opened its doors in 1927. Today the community college offers culinary arts studies within their hospitality management department at their El Dorado campus, located in the Wichita metropolitan area. Core classes cover culinary basics and beverage control, as well as various aspects of management. Butler's program also features advanced specialty-track classes in culinary skills. Students will gain hands-on training that prepares them for careers in restaurant management. Matriculate into a one-year certificate program, or a two-year program for an associate's degree.

Johnson County Community College features two culinary arts-related courses of study, both of which are housed within the school's hospitality and tourism department. Students enrolled in JCCC's chef apprenticeship program train under the tutelage of an American Culinary Federation chef member. In the three-year, associate's degree program, the major curriculum includes coursework in advanced food preparation and in baking, as well as additional training in management, menu planning and hospitality, among other special skills. JCCC also offers a pastry/baking certificate, which aims to prepare students for entrepreneurial endeavors. Over the course of two semesters, pastry/baking students take courses in business basics, pastry shop production and patisserie, in addition to other courses.

The Art Institutes International is a national college with branch campuses across the country, including in Lenexa, which is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. Known for its culinary programs, the school features three programs in culinary arts: the baking & pastry arts associate's degree programs, as well as an associate and a bachelor's degree program in culinary arts. Both of the culinary arts programs train students in classical cooking methods, and then move on to developing their skills in preparing ethnic food, food styling and techniques in pairing food with wine. Some of the required courses in the bachelor's degree program include American regional cuisine, management by menu and nutritional cooking, in addition to a host of other required core courses like economics and college algebra.
