The program takes about a year to complete and once you graduate from this program, you will qualify to take the Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). Some of the classes that you will take in this program include nursing fundamentals, nursing skills, nursing pharmacology and nursing foundations. Completion of this program will also allow you to progress to MATCs RN program and become a registered nurse.

Waukesha County Technical College is located just west of Milwaukee in the town of Pewaukee, Wisconsin. WTC offers you an opportunity to progress quickly through the accredited LPN program and then, you can enter the RN associate degree program after completing a few general education classes. The LPN program requires students to complete two semesters of LPN course work and then go on to take the the Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) exam. Some of the classes you can expect to take in the LPN program include intro to clinical nursing, clinical care across lifetime and intro to clinical care management. After completion of the exam, students will have an opportunity to enter WTCs RN program and take an accelerated path to an associate degree in nursing. Completion of the LPN program only will earn you a technical diploma and a practical nursing license.

Moraine Park Technical College is located just north of Milwaukee in West Bend, Wisconsin. MPTC offers a fully accredited LPN program similar to the other programs, in which it allows progression into an RN degree program. After completing the first two semesters of this program you will be eligible to take the Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) exam. After completing the entire four semesters, you will earn an associate degree in nursing and be eligible to become a registered nurse. Some of the classes you can expect to take in the first two semesters include nursing fundamentals, nursing skills, nursing health alterations and nursing health promotion. Upon completion of the first two semesters, students will not earn any certificates but will be eligible to take the licensure exam to become a practical nurse. You must complete the entire four semester program to attain a degree.
