Marywood University is located in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Marywood's 27-month, full-time graduate physician assistant program trains students in both primary and specialized care in various medical settings like hospital, clinics and physician offices.
While enrolled in the program, students take courses in anatomy and physiology, clinical assessment, epidemiology, developmental medicine, nutrition, dermatology and psychiatry, among many others. Admission requirements include a bachelor's degree with a 3.0 or higher GPA, completion of science and math prerequisites, a minimum of 500 patient contact hours, competition of a medical terminology course and three letters of recommendation. Mercer University is located in Atlanta, Georgia. The 28-month, full-time graduate physician assistant program is comprised of 13 months of didactic studies and 15 months of clinical rotations. Students partake in courses such as surgical medicine, human sexuality, medical nutrition, behavioral medicine, human anatomy, medical ethics and general surgery, among others.
Students who apply to the program should have a bachelor's degree with at least a 3.0 GPA and completed prerequisite courses in biology, chemistry, microbiology, anatomy and physiology, psychology, statistics and English. Mercer University also requires that students take the GRE and receive a score of over 1,000, have over 1,000 hours of direct patient care experience and have three letters of recommendation. Baylor College of Medicine is located in Houston, Texas. Baylor's 30-month, full-time graduate physician assistant program is comprised of a 13-month didactic phase and a 17-month clinical phase, as well as a research project. Students in the program complete courses such as biochemistry, clinical medicine, physical diagnoses, pharmacology, internal medicine, geriatrics and surgery.
A bachelor's degree with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA is required to gain admittance, as well as prerequisite courses in science, math and psychology. New classes start each June. Housing and financial assistance are available to students.
