RN Re-Entry Programs

Registered Nurse (RN) re-entry programs allow inactive RNs to fulfill the education requirements needed in order to reactivate their licenses after at least three years of non-practice. The re-entry programs focus on refresher courses that will bring inactive nurses up to speed on current procedures These courses consists of didactic hours and laboratory/clinical experience.
  1. Pacific Lutheran University

    • The RN re-entry to practice program at Pacific Lutheran University consists of a skills review laboratory and clinical experience. The skills review laboratory takes place over five days during on-campus sessions. Prior to attending the sessions, students are required to view online video "skills modules." At the end of the skills review laboratory, students will be credited with 25 contact hours. For the clinical experience portion of the program, students will complete 160 clock hours with their assigned clinical preceptor for which they will be credited with 135 contact hours.

    Jewish Vocational Service

    • The Jewish Vocational Service RN Refresher Program lasts for 11 weeks and includes clinical practice experience, certification of 30 continuing education hours, and help preparing for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN).

    Kennesaw State University

    • Participants in Kennesaw State University's Nurse Refresher Program will complete 40 hours of didactic study and 160 hours of clinical experience. The program is offered four times a year. The study portion can be completed online or on campus. The online option is offered in March and September of every year and consists of eight modules that contain assignments, discussion questions, and quizzes. One module is completed each week.The campus option is offered in May and December of every year. Students who participate in the campus option will attend eight sessions over a span of three weeks. Each session is held on its own day, and is made up of six class hours and two independent study hours.
