Accredited schools must meet or exceed standards set by national or regional major accreditation authorities. Degrees from accredited colleges and universities are more highly esteemed than degrees from non-accredited schools. The major accrediting body in Ohio is the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
