Fountainhead College of Technology (FCTC) was established in 1947 and is located in northern Knoxville, Tennessee. FCTC is a private technical school that offers one certificate and 12 degree associate and bachelor degree programs. ITT Technical Institute is a system of private colleges with campus locations throughout the United States. The Knoxville campus is located in western Knoxville. ITT offers more than a dozen associate and bachelor degree programs in areas such as information technology, electronics technology, drafting and design, business and criminal justice. ITT is authorized as a post-secondary educational institution by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. Tennessee Technology Center (TTC) is a public technical school operated by the Tennessee Board of Regents. Established in 1966, TTC offers a variety of full-time, part-time, online and special industry programs. The school is located in central Knoxville, near the downtown area. Some of the programs offered at TTC include automotive technology, collision repair, dental assisting, industrial electricity, machine tool technology, medical assisting, practical nursing and welding. Most of the programs at TTC are certificate programs and generally take about a year to complete. TTC is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education.
