Nurse Practitioner Programs in Canada

A nurse practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse (RN) who has undergone advanced education and training and as a result can take on more responsibilities than a RN. In Canada, an NP can diagnose and manage diseases and disorders, conduct a complete physical, prescribe medication and make referrals to specialists. Some NPs specialize in particular areas of health care, such as family nursing or neonatal. NP programs in Canada are graduate programs and those who complete the program earn a Master's of Nursing (MN) degree.
