Texas A&M University is a four-year college located in College Station, Texas. According to the university's Web site, the school has 38,000 undergraduate and 9,000 graduate students. The Web site also states that the student body is comprised of about half men and half women. The university also has two branches, one in Galveston, Texas, and the other in Qatar, a country located in the Middle East. Texas A&M University also offers a special academic and extra-curricular program called the Corps of Cadets. This program has been around since the school was founded in 1876. The program offers its cadets the opportunity to participate in military style drills and activities in addition to learning and developing leadership qualities. Upon completion of the program cadets earn a leadership certificate along with their diploma which helps them earn a career in the public, private, or military sectors. The cadets are also encouraged to take on leadership positions in other campus organizations such as student government, the activities board and the tradition council. The program stresses academics as the cadets first priority, and offers various mentorship and tutoring programs to help new students succeed such as requiring study hours for freshman and sophomores. Finally, the cadets are the only way to participate in certain traditions such as marching in before the school's football games.

The Marine Military Academy is a college preparatory school for students in 8th to twelfth grade. The academy only accepts male students. In addition, the school requires that students room at the academy. According to the school's Web site, it is the only military school based on the traditions, values, and ideals of the United States Marine Corps. Tuition for the 2010-2011 school year is $30,000 with an additional $1,400 uniform fee.

The Texas Military Institute is located in San Antonio Texas. The school is coed and offers both boarding and day programs. In addition to being affiliated with the army, TMI is an episcopal school. The school considers itself a college preparatory school and caters to students from grades 6-12. According to the Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United States (AMCSUS) the school is the oldest episcopal school in the southwest.
