Business schools offer executive MBA options for current executives who want to continue their education, and also part-time MBA programs for those who currently work in another field, but seek to further your business education. Many schools also have night and weekend options.

Durham is a part of the so called "research triangle," a three-city region known for its cutting edge university research. U.S. News & World Report ranked this school among the top five executive MBA programs in the United States. This school offers a variety of options for adults seeking an MBA degree. One option is the weekend executive program, which requires a minimum of five years professional work experience. This program takes 20 months, or five terms to complete. The school also offers a Global Executive MBA program for applicants with 10 to 30 years of professional work. Graduation from this program takes approximately 18 months.

    Columbia University

    • Columbia University, located in New York City, New York is ranked in the top five business schools in the United States for its executive MBA program, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2010 rating. This program is tailored to current business executives who seeks to further their education or expand their network. It requires 25 courses or 60 total credit hours. Ten of these classes are core curriculum courses, four are distribution requirements, and the remaining 11 are elective courses. This degree takes five consecutive terms to complete.

    University of California

    • The Haas School of Business consistently ranks among the top ten executive MBA programs in U.S. News & World Report, scoring the seventh spot in the 2010 rating. Haas is a part of the University of California, Berkeley. Berkeley itself scored seventh overall in the United States in the same publication. Aside from its full-time MBA Program, Berkeley offers two options for adults interested in continuing education. One option is the evening and weekend MBA program, which meets on Saturdays and weeknight evenings and takes three years to complete. The second option is the Executive MBA program offered jointly through Berkeley and Columbia University. This is a 19-month curriculum in which instructional time is equally divided between professors from both schools.
