MBA CPA Programs

According to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, individuals wishing to enter the accounting profession as a CPA (certified public accountant) must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree with 150 credit hours of course work to sit for the CPA licensure exam in most states. This credit requirement goes above and beyond what is normally expected of most undergraduate students. Students interested in becoming a CPA while earning a business degree may want to extend their schooling into the graduate level. Master's of business administration (MBA) programs are graduate-level degrees that focus on business specializations such as finance, accounting, and management.
  1. Indiana University Bloomington

    • The Kelley School of Business at the Indiana University Bloomington offers a 3/2 MBA program with a CPA certification option. This is a combined undergraduate/graduate degree that allows students to complete a BS and MBA in less time than traditional programs. Students complete three years of undergraduate work, and two years of graduate classes in business focused areas such as financial accounting concepts, managerial economics, financial analysis and firm valuation, supply chain operations, and many more. Second year master's level students may select specific courses that focus on business areas such as accounting or financial analysis. The 3/2 curriculum is designed to give students the necessary 150 hours to sit for the CPA exam in most U.S. states.
